Tuesday Tutorial: Ruffle Flower Clutch
I have seen these flowers everywhere and they are so cute! I saw a pouch similar to this one and thought I would try and make my own.
Okay, I know we have had a few tutorials involving ruffles over here, but we are a little obsessed right now! LOL!
Materials Needed:
2- 6″x 10″ Pieces of outer fabric
2- 6″ x 10″ pieces of fabric for the inside
2- 6″ x 10″ pieces of interfacing
1- 9 inch. zipper
1- 1″ x 50″ strip of chiffon for the ruffle flower (I sewed 2 strips together)
1- 2.5″ x 12″ strip of fabric for the wrist strap
1- 2″ x 3″ strip of fabric for the tab on the clutch
1- 2″ x 3″ strip of interfacing
Key chain clasp and ring
Rotary cutter and Mat
Sewing machine
Interface the outer pieces of fabric. Gather your Chiffon strip. I just set my tension on my machine all the way up and set my stitch on the longest setting.
Pin the ruffle in a flower pattern on 1 of the outer pieces of fabric
Stitch the ruffle on
Interface the 3″ strip
Iron the 2 edges into the middle and then iron in half. Top stitch the edges closed. Do the same for the 12″ strip
Baste the 3″ tab in place. 3/4″ from the top left edge
Sew your zipper on, for directions on how to do this go to THIS post.
Pull the strip through the clasp. Stitch the ends closed
Turn the strip right side out so the raw edge is tucked under now
Top-stitch the raw edges by the key chain clasp.
Attach the key chain- ring to the tab on the pouch
Done!!
All wrapped up and pretty!
I love how the chiffon looks when it’s all frayed. But I can’t wait to try this again with other fabrics. I made this for my daughter’s teacher, I really hope she likes it!
