Audition much!!

So it’s been AWHILE since my last crafty post, and I’m itching do create!!!  I can always tell it’s time when my precious sleep is taken over by ideas of nursery crafts, spring-time wreaths, centerpieces, and banners…

Ahh!!

For a little extra push to get my bunz in gear I decided to hop on over to Naptime Crafters and audition for American Crafter!!

Yep, I know.  I’m all over the map:)

I submitted this little Book Storage idea you’ve probably seen…  I’ve auditioned the last couple of seasons, and just haven’t made the cut… Maybe third times a charm??

Anyway, head on over to American Crafter and click on my link, pageviews help the judges select the contestants, hint hint:)

Thanks a bunch!!  Love ya’ll

Tuesday Tutorial: Anthro Inspired Headband

REMEMBER TO PLEASE VOTE FOR MY PROJECT OVER AT MADE BY HEIDI!!!  YOU CAN VOTE ONCE PER DAY!!!  I’D BE VERY MUCH OBLIGED:)

Ok, so I have to apologize if this post seems repetitive, but I’m just on an Anthropologie kick lately!!

Last week I gave away a sweet Anthro inspired headband, and it got more attention than any other post or tutorial I have done to date, so I thought I would show you how to make one of your own:)

Supplies:

  • Any fabric scraps or squares
  • Hot glue
  • Headband
  • Embellishments (optional)
  • felt square

Step 1:

Cut your fabric into strips.  In my case, I used a leftover square of fabric.  I cut it into 3 strips of 1 1/4 inch wide fabric.  After rolling it into the rosette, I wanted one of my rosettes slightly larger, so I ended up sewing two strips together to make it bigger.  (Sorry, I don’t have a picture)  You can keep all of your strips the same, it’s totally up to you!!

I cut another strip about 2 inches wide to use for wrapping around the headband.

Step 2:

Press each strip in half lengthwise.

Step 3:  Tie a knot in the very end of each of your fabric strips.

Step 4:

Begin each rosette by wrapping the strip around the knot.  Glue with fabric glue or hot glue every 1/2 turn to secure in place.

When you’ve reached the end of your strip, tuck the end piece underneath and glue in place.

Flatten out and shape the top to your taste.

Step 5:

Wrap the remaining strip of fabric, (you may need more than one strip depending on how long your fabric is) around the headband, securing it with hot glue as you go.

Step 6:

Secure the rosettes to the headband with hot glue.  Use a piece of felt to secure the back.

Add any embellishments if desired

Voila!!!  I LOVE this classy look!!
