Confessions…
So our server has been down for the last couple of days, I’m so sorry about that!! But during that time and for the last few weeks as well, I have been thinking about “life.” Do you ever do that??
So here is what I have come up with…
I love my family. A lot. They deserve more of my time. Pretty soon we’ll be adding another tiny member to our family, one that will require even more time.
I love my blog, and all my bloggy friends. But this little ol blog of mine takes A LOT of time. Time that I really need to devote to my fam.
I’m scared. I’m so scared to be a mom of 4 kids. How do you even begin to prepare for that. Probably with more time.
So the conclusion I have made is, while I LOVE crafting, sewing, re-decorating, and blogging about it, I really need to step it up as a mama. I’m not quitting my blog, just taking it down a notch. There may be weeks with no posts. And there may be weeks with lots of good stuff, (well hopefully).
But I just wanted to let all you fabulous readers and supporters and friends of Just Sew Sassy know, that I love and appreciate all your kindness. I’m not ready to let you go yet. Please don’t give up on me. I’ll be back, I promise.
Thanks for understanding my friends.

California Baby!!
We knew we needed one last big trip before Baby #4 makes his appearance in May! So where better to go than California!!!
We woke our kids up Saturday morning and surprised them with the news, they were pretty excited!!
So off we went to Capistrano Beach (a pretty central location to all our fun destinations)!
This was our view across from our room…
Me and my hubs, and my belly…
First stop Knott’s Berry Farm. I’m glad we went there first, b/c it in no way compares to Disneyland or even Legoland for that matter, but our kids had fun:)
My little sis skipped a week of college to come help us out!! She was awesome!!
I’m sorry, but isn’t this picture HIL-ARIOUS??
We love snoopy!
Day 2, Disneyland!!! Our best day ever!!
We LOVE tinkerbell!!
and Day 3, more Disney!!
Classic Mickey and Minnie!
and Day 4, Legoland!!
They had entire cities displayed from all over the world, all made entirely from legos!! So cool!!
My 5 yr-old is obsessed with Star Wars!!
They all LOVED driving their own wheels…
My camera had died for our final day at Disneyland:(
But I got it charged enough for a few shots at Laguna Beach…
Such a gorgeous beach…
Yeah, I know. Pregnant ladies shouldn’t stand next to hot young bikini babes:)
Thanks for letting me share some of my family memories with you!! Doesn’t it make you excited for Spring!!

We’re going to Disneyland!!
So have you ever had that fantasy when you were a kid, that your parents would wake you up one day and tell you they were taking you to Disneyland??
Well, I’m living my childhood dreams vicariously through my children!! We’re taking a surprise trip this week to California!!! We’ve been secretly planning this trip for 6 months, and I can’t believe it’s finally here…
Ahhhhh!!!! I’m so excited!!! Maybe even a little more than my kids will be:)
This pic was taken the last time we were in Cali for a family trip to Sea World… Look how tiny my babies were!!!
We decided we needed one last big fun family trip before this baby makes its debut… We’re staying in Capistrano Beach which is pretty central to Disneyland, Legoland, Knotts Berry Farm, and even Sea World.
Don’t worry I’ve got another tutorial, and a giveaway this week, so make sure and stop by again soon!! Have a fabulous weekend ya’ll!!

Taking a Sick Day…
I’m so sorry I have been MIA lately. I thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be “easy”. Well, I guess with three other kids (all of whom have been little sickies), my time is seriously stretched thin as can be. Not to mention this blasted sciatic pain in my back that WON”T GO AWAY!!!!
Ok sorry, just had to vent for a sec… but this has been my strength as of late…
Just letting you know, my lovely readers, that I haven’t forgotten about ya. I’ve got lots of exciting projects to share, and a couple of giveaways coming up too!!
Don’t give up on me!!! I’ll be back soon.

Tuesday Tutorial: Framed Heart Art Centerpiece
Holy Moly!!! Where did the week go!! I mean weekend?? I had a couple of posts planned for this weekend, and umm, they will have to wait until next weekend I guess, sorry about that friends!!
I have a couple more Valentines tutorials for ya, so you can be all decked out ad ready for the day of LOVE!!
Today I’m gonna show ya how to make framed heart art:)
Supplies:
-
an old frame
-
red spray paint
-
scrapbook paper
-
vinyl or cardstock
-
yarn
-
hot glue
First, you’re going to paint your frame.
Next, cut a scrap of paper to go in the frame.
I glued this right to the cardboard piece in the back of my frame.
For this next step you can either use vinyl or cardstock, I chose vinyl b/c I think its easier to work with using the Silhouette.
Find a heart template, or create your own. I knew I was going to make 3 rows of 3 hearts, so I found a template with three hearts in a row.
Cut out the heart design.
Attach some transfer paper to the vinyl and place it right on the paper.
Repeat until you have the desired amount of rows and hearts. For the last heart, I used the same template and cut some red patterned paper out of cardstock.
Lastly, use a pencil to trace a word, (I used love) and follow the lines with a hot glue gun. Immediately add the yarn to the hot glue, and trim after each letter.
And you’re done!!
I found the best invention ever at Hobby Lobby last weekend and had to try it out with this project. It’s a pom pom maker!! You basically wind the yarn around, tie it off, snip it, and you’re done. I filled up an apothecary jar with these little yarn pom poms to coordinate with the yarn from the frame.
I can’t wait to make a garland with the stuff too!!!
Have fun yarning it up:)

Tuesday Tutorial: Boy Christmas Gift, Monster Applique Tee
So while perusing pinterest, I saw this darling monster shirt!! I knew I could make it, but was curious where I could buy it. Guess what!! It wasn’t for sale anymore… So my decision was made. These would be perfect Christmas gifts for my monster lovin boys!!
This is basically an applique tutorial, super simple, so grab your supplies and let’s go!!
I’m making two shirts at a time here, so forgive me for switching in and out of pictures…
I decided to iron both my big monster felt pieces at once to save on heat-n-bond.
I actually ironed my scrap pieces of felt to the heat-n-bond before cutting the shapes out. It just makes them easier to cut. Just have an idea of how much of your scrap piece you will need, for whatever add-ons you decide to give your monster.
I left a bit of an opening at the bottom for the teeth to slide into.
This will secure everything and keep it nice through all your washes.
So I made my 3 yr-old try his Christmas present on. I know, lame.
I didn’t tell him what it was for, I just told him if he put the shirt on and let me take his picture, I would give him chocolate. He will do anything for chocolate. He takes after his mama:)
and then he looked at his shirt…
and thought it was pretty cool…
So we had to take it off quick before he could ask any questions…
You could totally customize this for a girl as well, I may just do that for my 6 yr-old!! Have fun creating!
